Precision work fails at the grip long before it fails at the blade. The Beaver Handle is built around that idea: a slim, round body you hold like a pen rather than a knife, so the cutting edge answers to your fingertips instead of your wrist.

The knurled chuck opens with a twist, seats a Beaver-pattern mini blade and clamps it firm. Once locked, the blade does not creep or rotate mid-stroke — which is what lets you work confidently at the nail sulcus, around a verruca margin or along a callus edge where a millimetre matters.

Because the body is round rather than flat, you can roll it between thumb and forefinger to change the blade angle without lifting your hand or resetting your position. The silver satin finish cuts glare under a clinical lamp, and the knurling keeps its grip when your gloves are damp.

Made from stainless steel and fully autoclavable, it is a handle you buy once and re-sterilise for years, changing only the blade. Blades are sold separately.

How to Use

1. Confirm the handle has been cleaned and sterilised, and check that the chuck turns freely before use.
2. Hold the handle and turn the knurled chuck anticlockwise to open the jaws.
3. Insert the shank of a sterile Beaver-pattern blade fully into the chuck, keeping your fingers clear of the cutting edge.
4. Turn the chuck clockwise until the blade is firmly seated, then confirm it does not rotate or move under light pressure.
5. Hold the handle in a pen grip and work in line with your own clinical training and your practice protocol.
6. Rotate the body between your fingers to adjust the blade angle rather than changing your hand position.
7. When finished, open the chuck and remove the blade using forceps or a blade remover — never by hand.
8. Dispose of the used blade immediately into an approved sharps container.
9. Clean the handle thoroughly, paying attention to the chuck threads, then dry, lubricate and sterilise following your practice's decontamination procedure.
10. Store dry and inspect the chuck again before the next use.

Important Care and Safety

• Professional use only. Intended for podiatrists and other clinicians trained in the use of surgical blades, and not suitable for use at home.
• Use only with sterile, single-use Beaver-pattern blades. Never reuse a blade.
• Load and unload blades with forceps or a purpose-made blade remover, never with your fingers.
• Dispose of used blades immediately into an approved sharps container in line with your practice's sharps policy.
• Check that the blade is locked and does not rotate before beginning any procedure.
• Clean, dry and sterilise between every patient, following your practice's decontamination policy.
• Inspect the chuck regularly. Withdraw the handle from service if it no longer grips a blade securely.
• Dry thoroughly after cleaning and lubricate the chuck threads to prevent corrosion and stiffness.
• Store safely and keep out of reach of children.
